La Roseta

“To make my dream come true, I left my job and started my own business”
Rosa Talló

La Roseta
Bakery in Barceloneta, Barcelona

Rosa Talló, 27 years old, had been working in various top-ranking catering companies but she felt she needed to take one step further and set up her own business. That is why one morning she asked her mother if she could renovate some premises owned by her family to open a bakery, La Roseta, where she would make her most cherished plans a reality. “To make my dream come true, I decided to leave my job and start my own business”, Rosa explained with a smile. It would not be just any shop, but one that could strengthen local trade so that the neighbours in the same district of Barceloneta could buy basic products for making cakes, rolls, sandwiches or juices. A loan from MicroBank was the final push to set up her business that, one year after it opened, has become the centre of attraction both for people living in Barcelona and for tourists who visit the beaches in the area. “Without MicroBank’s help I would never be where I am today”, she points out looking pleased; “everything was made very easy right from the start”. In addition, she explains proudly, she was able to give other people jobs and now La Roseta has 3 more employees. Rosa recalls the opening day with special fondness: “When my first customer came into the shop, I felt so happy I didn’t even charge her.”

DETAILS MICROCREDIT AMOUNT: €18,000 TOTAL INVESTMENT: €40,310 FUTURE PLANS: When this first business is going well, she plans to open another bakery.
